History
Woodland Custom Builders, LLC is masterminded by the creative talents of Jan Madsen and his associate, Brian DeLunger. In 1999 Madsen and DeLunger teamed up to form Woodland Custom Builders, LLC. They have found their niche in building quality affordable custom homes in Lincoln and surrounding areas.
Jan Madsen began building when he helped his parents build their dream home in 1975. After earning his Bachelor of Science degree in Construction Management at the University of Nebraska-Lincoln, Madsen went to work in the commercial sector and managed large-scale marble, terrazzo and tile installment projects. His résumé includes projects such as the Ashland Water Treatment Plant, Burlington Kansas Nuclear Power Plant, Methodist Hospital, Creighton University, Joslyn Art Museum, YMCA facilities and numerous schools. In addition to his expertise in tile installment, Madsen is particularly talented in the area of floor plan design and is an expert in structural and mechanical aspects of home building.
Brian DeLunger is in charge of all things aesthetic, assisting with selection of paint, trim, countertops, and tile. DeLunger began his career in restoration and remodeling. He remodeled and restored two of his own properties in Lincoln’s Near South neighborhood. People soon recognized his talent for restoring vintage properties and bringing them back to their original beauty by keeping them period correct. These talents have been extremely valuable in making sure that Woodland Custom Builders, LLC offers a unique style and beauty in affordable custom homes.
Philosophy
Madsen and DeLunger are most inspired by the arts and crafts architectural style. They adhere to the philosophy that form follows function. They are committed to excellence of design and craftsmanship and consistently maintain a high level of customer satisfaction. Jan has designed unique floor plans that feature functional open spaces and spacious master suites.
The Woodland Custom Builders, LLC “Oakcrest” design has been a big hit in the Lincoln area. It features a pass-thru laundry room that is adjacent to a walk-in closet that continues to the master bath. It also features under cabinet lighting in the kitchen and surround sound and security system pre-wiring. Of course Madsen’s true genius is evident in his beautiful tile work so every Woodland Custom Builders, LLC home has beautiful tile entries, and gorgeous tilework in kitchens and baths.
Jan and Brian have entrusted Steve Heironymus of the Searcy Team with the responsibilities of builder representative for Woodland Custom Builders, LLC. Steve has excellent communication skills and is knowledgeable about every phase of the construction process. Steve facilitates communication between the builder and homebuyer and makes sure that details are attended to in contracts and documents. In addition, Steve believes in the product and even lives in a home built by Woodland Custom Builders, LLC.
